Scott Bader Composites, Europe Announces Further Price Increases for its Crystic® Products Range

Scott Bader Composites, Europe is implementing a further price rise. Effective from May 1st 2011, prices for all Crystic® unsaturated polyester, DCPD, vinyl ester and Crestapol® resins and Crystic® bonding paste and Crystic Crestomer® structural adhesive products will increase by 100€/te. Prices for all Crystic® gelcoats and pigments will increase by 150€/te, due to significant increases in the cost of titanium dioxide and other key pigment ingredients. These new prices will apply to all invoiced deliveries from this date, subject to any existing contracts.

This is Scott Bader’s third increase in 2011 and is in addition to the previous price rises announced during the first quarter of this year. They cite the causes of this further price rise to be the continued increases in key raw material costs driven upwards by higher oil prices, supply chain restrictions, and Force Majeure situations in Europe. These factors are coupled with ongoing strong global demand, especially from Asia. Scott Bader is expecting raw material prices to remain at these high levels for some time to come with the possibility of further prices increases being necessary if further upward movements in oil, energy and raw material prices occur.

Malcolm Forsyth, European Commercial Director, of Scott Bader Composites stated: “Scott Bader continues to work closely with our customers to minimise where possible the impact of these relentless raw material cost increases. However, in spite of our best efforts, we cannot escape the need to now pass on some of these further increases to customers. This is necessary to ensure our long term business sustainability."
