Scott Bader to Exhibit New Specialty Products at China Composites Show

At the forthcoming China Composites Show in Beijing, Scott Bader Composites will be exhibiting on stand number A426/428 their range of specialty Crystic® resins, skin coats, gelcoats, prime coats, gloss coats and tooling products.  Being showcased for the first time at the China Composites Show will be three innovative new Crystic® products developed by Scott Bader’s R & D team: Crestabond a totally new range of methacrylate based structural adhesives;  Crestapol® 1214 a new pultrusion resin; and Crystic® Fireguard 75PA Excel intumescent fire resistant topcoat.   The new METYX Composites® METYCORE MAXTM reinforcement and METYCORETM range for RTM and L-RTM will also be featured on the stand.

The new Crestabond range of structural adhesives is based on innovative methacrylate chemistry. This is a totally new adhesives range for Scott Bader, building on over 25 years of proven experience in structural adhesives for composite applications with its well established range of urethane acrylate Crystic® Crestomer® structural adhesives. The unique benefit offered by Crestabond adhesives is that they are primerless, with none or only minimal surface cleaning of the substrates to be bonded; this saves both production time and assembly costs.  The Crestabond range is aimed at manufacturing companies in the bus, truck and rail, construction, marine and wind energy markets, who are looking for durable, high performance structural adhesives that can be successfully bonded to a wide variety of composite, metal and plastic substrates. Crestapol® 1214 urethane acrylate high performance resin is the latest addition to the Crestapol resins range.  It has been developed for pultruding profiles where there is a requirement for fire resistance, low shrink, high quality surface finish or the need to manufacture larger profiles. Crestapol 1212 and 1214 pultrusion resins can be ATH filled up to 200phr to achieve a range of fire, smoke and toxic fumes standards specified for certain building and mass transportation applications; Crestapol 1212 has achieved DIN 5510 S4/SR2/ST2 and French NFP 92-501 M1, NFF 16-101 F0, also passing the more stringent Spanish FR tests for interior railway carriage applications.  Due to the low viscosity and high reactivity of Crestapol resins, even when heavily filled there is no loss of line speed.

The other new product which will be on the stand is Crystic Fireguard 75PA Excel intumescent fire protection topcoat, which is a product upgrade.  The new, improved ‘Excel’ version offers better FR properties and handling, yet is still cured with a standard MEKP catalyst (2% addition by weight).  While it will not protect indefinitely from an unchecked fire, Crystic Fireguard 75PA Excel can withstand a direct flame at a temperature of 700 deg. C for over 60 minutes without the laminate behind catching fire.

Already appointed as the official distributors of METYX Composites reinforcements in the UK, Ireland and France, Scott Bader will advise stand visitors about the features and benefits of the METYCORE and METYCORE MAX range of reinforcement materials, which are specially designed for RTM and L-RTM. METYCORE features high drapeability for complex parts and excellent resin flow for large-scale applications.   Building on the METYCORE product benefits, METYCORE MAX has an engineered core that works to deliver maximum resin flow and speed of moulding in L-RTM and RTM applications.  It is ideal where highly filled resin systems are needed.  Scott Bader Asia Pacific imports and distributes the full range of METYX Composites specialty reinforcements throughout China from their sales and distribution operations in Shanghai.
