Setting the standard in Diversity & Inclusion

Our business has always celebrated the immense benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce and has a legacy of ethical business practices. We were one of the first to adopt the employee ownership model in the 1950s, and today, the company continues to be an industry frontrunner tackling some of the most challenging issues of our time.

Fairness and equality run through everything we do, and we are extremely proud to be one of the world’s first manufacturers to attain the prestigious ISO 30415 Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) standard.

The ISO 30415 standard means we work to a robust D&I framework that ensures everyone in our business has all the knowledge and training needed to ensure they feel psychologically safe and equally empowered to reach their full potential.

Equity in progress

  • Women in Leadership programme
This was one initiative we launched to empower gender equality and has meant that 31% of female colleagues have now successfully completed the programme since 2019. Specifically, from the first cohort, 70% have gone on to receive promotions with 32.5% of Scott Bader’s leadership roles now being held by women.
  • Gender Pay Gap
In 2022, for the first time, we achieved a -5.5% mean UK gender pay gap in favour of women (benchmarked against a national average of 14.9%).
  • Best Employee Voice Award
Also in 2022 we won ‘Best Employee Voice Initiative – Small to Medium Organisation’ at the International Business Culture Awards. This came on the back of a successful review of our Constitution that shapes how Scott Bader is governed and inspires colleagues to leverage their impact and influence as owners, across the world.

Our Diversity & Inclusion mission statement

“Our mission is to build an inclusive work environment through our diverse communities across the world. We aim to attract, develop, and inspire talent that unleashes innovation and allows us to perform at our very best and create a culture in which everyone feels they have an equal opportunity to participate and belong.”
