A U.S. representative from global chemical company, Scott Bader, has attended an exclusive VIP event at The White House in recognition of the firm’s growing operations in India and The United States – helping to build strong business connections between the two countries.
A ceremonial welcome was held recently (Thursday 22nd June 2023) for the state visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, his excellency Narendra Modi, who was welcomed by a gathering of Indian diaspora living in the USA, including Kumar Abhinava, Group Project Manager at Scott Bader.
Invited by The President and Dr. Jill Biden, Abhinava was just one of three prominent Indians to attend from Indiana, selected for his academic and professional achievements, as well as his work in the community through arts and culture – particularly through the International Hindi Association.
Abhinava’s attendance was recommended by the Indian Embassy in Washington D.C via the Consulate General of India, Chicago, an institution which covers mid-western states, including Indiana, where he resides, which has a population of 331.4 million¹.
Established in 1921, Scott Bader is a £300m global chemical company that employs over 800 people worldwide across 18 offices and seven manufacturing sites.
In July 2022 Scott Bader Pvt Ltd (India) acquired the commercial business of Satyen Polymers Pvt Ltd, cementing its existing operations in India with the aim of bringing the latest technology to improve the quality and consistency of finished products in India. Alongside the acquisition, local technical support is now provided.
In addition, the firm’s U.S. operation is growing with a new $20m manufacturing site in Mocksville, North Carolina. The purpose-built facility, spanning 110,000 sq ft, will be a state-of-the-art gelcoat and structural adhesive manufacturing plant and is expected to commence production towards the end of 2023.
It was nothing short of an honour to represent Scott Bader at a ceremony which celebrated the very best of business relationships between India and the U.S. The company’s recent investment in infrastructure, both operational and commercial in both countries, demonstrates its commitment to growing intercontinental operations whilst solidifying existing customer bases. Not many people can say that they’ve been to The White House in a formal capacity and the ceremony was a fitting occasion to take stock of the great business being done across the continents. “This day and visit will be part of history and we will remember it for the rest of our lives. It was a proud day to be an Indian American.”
Kumar Abhinava, Group Project Manager at Scott Bader
