Tooling for 12m wind blades using Crestamould systems

In partnership with Castro Composites and Skillful LDA, a complete set of plugs and moulds were produced using Crestamould Matched Tooling Systems for Norvento, the first renewable energy producing company in Galicia, Spain.

Castro Composites is Scott Bader’s distributor in Spain, offering a complete range of services to its customers for the manufacture of parts and composite tooling. It’s sister company, Skillful LDA, based in Portugal produces CNC plugs and composite tooling.

The challenge

Manufacture cost effective plugs and moulds for the production of 12-metre wind blades.

For the tooling, dimensional accuracy and high-quality moulds were required to meet the high specification required for the finished wind blades.

The solution

The high-performance Crestamould matched tooling system of Crestamould Vinyl Ester 15PA, Crestamould Vinyl Ester 679PA and Crestamould RTR 4010PA was the perfect tooling solution to meet the high specification required.

The tooling system produced durable moulds with an exceptional surface finish. The moulds were produced efficiently thanks to the fast curing nature of Crestamould RTR 4010PA.
