Scott Bader Further Expands its GelTint Gelcoat Range and Service Across Europe

Since launching 15 months ago in the UK, Scott Bader’s GelTint service has been significantly expanded. Today, seven GelTint service centres are now fully operational, covering the UK and Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Iceland, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Austria; an eighth unit, will be operational later this year, covering Bulgaria and Romania.  The GelTint production units operating outside of the UK are all locally run by official Scott Bader regional distributor partners.

Each GelTint service centre can rapidly measure and mix single or multiple 20Kg keg orders for a pigmented gelcoat, to a very high level of colour accuracy and keg to keg consistency, delivered within a short lead time. The extended range of GelTint colours covers the well-established colour charts:  RAL, BS 381C, BS 5252, NCS & Scott Bader customer colours.  A custom colour match service is offered if required.

To ensure colour accuracy, keg to keg consistency and product quality, each regional unit uses only Scott Bader supplied colourants and marine quality GelTint gelcoat bases. Each unit operating identical specification, specially adapted, gear pump volumetric dispensing machine, along with a gyroscopic keg mixer which produces an evenly coloured gelcoat.

An expanded range of GelTint gelcoat bases and topcoats are now available, with more under development, to expand the market offering. All GelTint products now come with liners in sustainable packaging. Customers can now order coloured gelcoat kegs from any GelTint Service centre in a choice of two Lloyd’s Register marine approved Isophthalic (Iso) brush gelcoat bases (GT-600, and GT-640 for colder climates), an Iso spray gelcoat base (GT-900), or the latest addition to the base range, a higher UV weathering performance Iso-NPG (GT-1000) spray gelcoat option currently under Lloyd’s approval testing; an Iso-NPG brush GelTint base will also be available in early 2018.

According to Scott Bader, this rapid colour service has proved of particular benefit to tier 1 and 2 FRP moulders of

parts used in general industrial, marine, agricultural vehicles, land transportation and building applications.  Typically, there is a need for quick delivery of a specific coloured gelcoat. GelTint rapid colour centres meet this need, with order lead times usually of no more than five days. A 48 hour service is offered for an additional cost if required. Martin Pinhorne, Director of Quality Mouldings Ltd., an established FRP moulder based in Petersfield, Hampshire commented: “We get good, consistent gelcoat quality, with strong, very accurate colours from Scott Bader’s GelTint service, which is quick and reliable.” The company specializes in moulding parts such as baths, showers, bus shelters, and brightly coloured fiberglass components for fairground rides.
